Haleon, the maker of Panadol and Sensodyne is joining forces with the leading healthcare non-profit, Ibrahim Ahmed Badran Foundation to launch a series of medical convoys under the campaign name “Take Charge of Your Health”, which will provide free healthcare services and champion self-care awareness among 10,000 citizens, extending its reach beyond the capital.
The initiative will span five governorates, namely Giza, Qalyubia, Ismailia, Fayoum, and Sharkeya. Medical convoys will operate on weekends, offering medicines and free medical examinations in specialties such as ophthalmology, dermatology, orthopedics, pediatrics, urology, and ENT (ear, nose, and throat). The program will also feature awareness sessions in oral health, pain management, general hygiene, exercise, and nutrition. These services will be delivered by a multidisciplinary team of dentists, pharmacists, and doctors. By prioritizing self-care, individuals can become better stewards of their own health, which in turn eases the burden on healthcare systems, lowers healthcare expenditures, optimizes care quality, and minimizes the necessity for medical appointments for conditions that can be self-managed. Building on this premise, Haleon is launching “Take Charge of Your Health” campaign in Egypt with the goal of educating the Egyptians on non-communicable diseases (NCDs). NCDs such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, and long-term respiratory are projected to be responsible for 82% of the nation’s total death1 toll and for 67% of pre-mature death according to the World Health Organization.
